Curious
first
Weeks of our own time on new tools and new questions. What we learn here we publish, because curiosity only compounds when it is shared.
studied
in the open
A studio cannot ask its clients to innovate if it has stopped learning itself.
New tools arrive faster than the wisdom to use them well, so we stay close to them. Every few months something appears that could change how a product is researched, formed, tested or told, and we go and find out first hand. A study takes as long as the question takes, and most of these run for weeks.
What we test is not whether a tool is clever. Every tool is clever. We test whether it can raise the work: whether it carries feeling, whether it survives contact with a hand, whether it lets us reach an idea we could not reach before.
Everything we find is written up and shared, inside the studio first and then here. Knowledge that stays private stops growing. A studio that stops being curious can only repeat itself.
None of it is for sale. When a study becomes repeatable it graduates into what we offer, where it can be priced and held to a result. Until then it stays here, free to read.
