Vision and product strategy

Within Intelligence, market intelligence and product strategy: From noise
to vision

A research and strategy service. We study your market, your users and where both are heading, and turn what we find into a clear plan for your products.

What you get

  1. Vision

Where your market, your users and your category are heading, and what it means for your company.

  2. Strategy

What to make, for whom, how it should look and how to launch it.

  3. Living system

Everything in one place you keep, share and build on with us over time.

When you
need it
  • A new product or product family. Whether it should exist, who it is for, and how it can win.
  • A new niche to explore. Trend analysis that finds the openings that fit where your company wants to go.
  • A market to scope. How big it is, who is already there, and how it is changing.
  • A new country or region. Its users, its competitors and its culture, so the product and its launch fit where they land.
  • A catalogue to review. What to keep, what to renew and what is missing, measured against where the market is heading.
  • A launch to plan. Who to reach, how to present the product and where to start.
How it worksFive steps

Five steps,
one direction

Each step turns what we learn into a decision, until the strategy reaches the market. Data shows where the market stands. Design decides where it goes.

  1. 01

    Understand

The market, the real users, the competitors and the demand.

  2. 02

    Foresee

Where the category is heading, not only where it stands today.

  3. 03

    Decide

What to build, for whom, and how to position it. If the honest answer is “not yet”, we say so.

  4. 04

    Plan

The product direction, how it should look, and the roadmap for design, engineering and production.

  5. 05

    Launch

The go-to-market plan, the visual story, and the countries and regions where it will land best.

Reading
the market

A market speaks in thousands of signals, and most of them are noise. We read six kinds of evidence against each other until one direction stands out. Not the average of the data: the opportunity others have not seen yet.

From noise to direction Six streams of evidence start scattered among many signals and converge on one decision point, which leaves as a single route: the direction for the product. decide direction
Six sources, one direction
  1. Market and category

How big the category is, how it is structured, and how it is changing.

  2. Competitive benchmark

Every relevant product, compared on what it offers, what it costs and how it is positioned.

  3. Users

What people do and what they feel, not only what they say.

  4. Demand

Where the demand is, how strong it is, and where it is growing.

  5. Trends and scenarios

The trajectories that will shape the category, and the futures they could lead to.

  6. Your catalogue

What you already make, and how it holds up against the market.

ForeseeTrends and scenarios

Foresee

Technology changes every year. What people desire hardly changes at all.

So we read trends as trajectories, carry them forward as a range of scenarios, not a single forecast, and design for what will still matter when the product reaches people.

DecidePositioning

Decide

Most categories are crowded in the same two or three places.

Map every product on the axes that matter to the people who buy, and the picture is almost always the same: everyone clustered, everyone safe, everyone interchangeable. The empty space is where a product stops being one more option and becomes the obvious choice.

That is where we decide what to build, and whether to build it now.

Plan and launchRoadmap and go-to-market

Plan and launch

A roadmap for the product, and a plan for its launch.

Plan sets the direction: what the product should be, how it should look, and the roadmap that guides design, engineering and production.

Launch carries the same knowledge into marketing. Knowing the market, where it is heading and who buys, we shape the visual story, choose where to launch first and how to reach the right people.

What you receiveAn interactive system

What you receive

Not a report. Something your team will use.

Research on this scale usually ends up as hundreds of spreadsheets that nobody opens twice. We put the time and care into making it simple instead: everything we found, in one place anyone in your company can explore, understand and decide on, and share inside or outside your team.

It holds the whole strategy, from the market to the launch.
It contains no AI. It is your strategy, made clear.

Who it is actually for. Market, demand, competition and context, read against each other until one group of people comes into focus.

Where the category is heading. One known trajectory, several plausible futures. The brightest is the one worth designing for.

Where to stand, and whether to go. The space no one has claimed, and an honest verdict on whether it deserves a product.

What to make, and in what order. The opportunities worth taking, sequenced so that each release makes the next one stronger.

How and where it lands. The go-to-market plan and the visual story, adapted to each country or region where the product is sold.

A living system

Markets never stand still, and neither do the people we design for.

The system is yours to keep. If we keep working together, it stays alive and grows with your company: we add new trends, compare new information, update the forecasts and explore new markets and niches with you, so every next decision starts from what is true today.

AI and our own toolsHow we work

AI reads.
People decide.

We have built our own research tools for this work, combining AI models with software developed in-house. They let us read a market more widely and more deeply than any team could by hand.

  • Wider and deeper.

More sources, read more often and against each other, so the picture is complete before anyone decides.

  • People are accountable.

Every recommendation is made, checked and signed by the designers and strategists you work with. A model carries no responsibility. We do.

  • Your data stays yours.

Client data is handled under strict controls and never used to train shared models. Models can also run locally, so your information never leaves your network.

Common
questions
What is Within Intelligence?

A research and strategy service by WITHIN Design Lab, a strategic innovation and industrial design studio in Barcelona. It gives companies a clear vision of their market and a strategy for their products, from the first decision to the launch.

How long does it take?

Between one and six months, depending on the scope of the project.

Can we hire Within Intelligence without the design work?

Yes. It can be your first step with us or a service on its own. Many clients take the strategy and build with their own teams. Others continue with us through industrial design, engineering and launch, the rest of our four stages.

What do we receive?

An interactive system with the full vision and strategy: market, users, trends, product direction, roadmap and launch plan. You can explore it freely and share it with anyone.

Is it an AI tool?

No. We use AI and our own tools in the research, but the system you receive contains no AI and is not an agent. People are accountable for every insight and recommendation in it.

What happens after delivery?

It is yours to keep. If we continue working together, we keep it up to date with you, so every new decision starts from what is true today.

Can the strategy be adapted to one country or region?

Yes. The launch step covers the countries and regions where the product will land best, and adapts its positioning and its visual story to each.
